38,000,000 people dying in a four-year period is hard to fathom, but that’s how many starved to death in China from 1958-1961 during the Great Leap Forward when Mao was the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party. This does not even include 10,729,000 that died in labor camps, were executed, or were targeted minorities.
